Welcome To The Village Path

Welcome to The Village Programs to Access Therapy and Healing or The Village PATH! Thank you for embarking on this journey with us. The Village PATH website will serve as a hub for information on the programs that we host, such as The Village HAWC (Healing & Writing Circle for Men of Color), The Village ROPE (Rights of Passages Empowerment Program for Black Boys), The Black Mentell Village Podcast, and The Lil Black Boy Campaign, which is our Therapy Support Assistance Program for Black men.

In August 2019, we began our very first program as an organization when we hosted our inaugural meeting for The Village HAWC. Two months later, In December we started the BlackMentell Village Podcast as a way to spread the word about The Village Healing & Writing Circle. The podcast also provided a way to showcase the storytelling and poetry of our attendees while providing yet another space for black men to feel comfortable with vulnerability.

By June of 2020, through a Collaboration with All Black Creatives and St. Louis-based artist, Sir Eddie C, The Village HAWC raised close to $16,000 with the Lil Black Boy Campaign, an effort to raise funds for Black men to receive free therapy. It was at this point when we realized that we needed a space to house all of the work we were doing while also creating a platform where we could make access to free therapy sessions as effortless as possible for those who desired to use the service. And so we formed The Village PATH (Programs to Access Therapy and Healing) and a corresponding website to highlight our efforts.

More than ever, we believe Black adolescent and adult men need places to process pain, move through their grief, and feel empowered to advocate for their own wellbeing. Here at The Village Path, our goal is to provide these healing spaces along with meaningful programming to assist our participants with self-care and to achieve sound mental health.
