Description:
The goal of the event is to raise funds through donations that will go towards The Village Tap. The Village Tap was organized to address the mental health needs of Black Self-Identified Men. A big part of it is providing psychotherapy sessions to this population free of charge.
This aligns with The Village Path's mission to reduce stigma by providing culturally affirming mental health services to underserved Black communities impacted by systemic oppression.
Another part of this event is making sure the men involved feel seen, heard, and appreciated. Most times men just identify with the roles they play as a provider, protector, father, and so on. Most times we get lost in the layers and it's difficult to truly see ourselves in its truest form. Personally, since I've started doing self-portraits and therapy years ago regularly, I've learned to appreciate and truly see myself, while also looking good/feeling good.
