As we live, we write the stories of our lives. Sometimes the pen gets too heavy. Sometimes we don’t know where to start… or how to continue. And then there’s writer’s block, the faltering of the creative process somewhere in our hearts, our minds, our bodies producing dis-orders and dis-eases. Maybe you have lost a Loved one. Maybe you’re starting a new relationship. Maybe you want a new job. Maybe you just want change. I believe the remedy is in the beliefs/feelings, thoughts, and behaviors fueling the writer’s block or dis-ease, and I am a dis-ease specialist.

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in Missouri and Virginia who is a National Board Certified Counselor (NCC), a Certified Family Counselor (CFT), a Certified Depression & Mood Disorder Treatment Professional (CDMDTP), and a Certified Grief Counseling Specialist (CGCS).

I have been a sexual health professional and educator for the past nine (9) years. Young people and adults have entrusted me with their intimate histories and lives to help them build their futures with hard truths and solid foundations. Assessment has been my friend since the beginning as the more we know about a problem or writer’s block or dis-ease, the more capable we are to treating it. I prefer groups and couples, yet I welcome most individual clients, especially those who are most vulnerable to HIV/AIDS, have career issues, have sexuality issues, and/or have relational challenges. I use a combination of schema therapy, relational reframing, creative/expressive arts, values/worldviews, and personality types to work with and get to know my clients.

I truly believe in the relationship between the client and therapist and that it holds the key to success in mental health treatment. I purpose to build a therapeutic alliance that we both can be proud of and that can dance to the rhythm of the music we make together. I counsel my clients to be educated consumers, enlisted partners, and encouraged participants in their own health and wellbeing. I would be honored to consult with you about the words you’ve written—or have yet to write.
